About Block Grey & Block

Founded in 1786, we first specialised in Madeira wine, and were the first merchants permitted to operate out of Park Lane, Mayfair. Supplying our wares to the elite who lived there.


When Scotch Whisky first gained international popularity, we proceeded to lay the foundations of an iconic blend that has since become world famous: The Speaker. So named after one of our most esteemed customers, for the title he held that remains as crucial today as it was then.


Two centuries after inception, we continued to supply our most distinguished of clients, and ‘By Appointment to the late King George VI’ we solidified our place as one of the best in the land.

Gone are the days of Britain's 'gin craze', where this fragrant spirit filled the shelves of physicians and apothecaries alike. It was originally crafted as a medicinal drink, thought to cure one of various ailments and afflictions. Now we know that it is simply to be enjoyed, either served on it's own, or used to construct an intricate flavour profile within a variety of cocktails.

The Speaker London Dry Gin is a spirit that truly encapsulates the ethos of the British Gentleman. A subtle blend of botanicals with a juniper finish. One experiences a hint of cucumber on the nose, with a pleasant dryness and notes of celery on the palate.

Order! Order! The Speaker Blended Scotch Whisky, a drink for the right honourable gentleman. First crafted for one of our customers: The Speaker of the House of Commons. Who desired something exquisite, yet unique.

The Speaker has been carefully blended using the finest malt whiskies, which are married with exceptional grain whiskies in fully seasoned oak casks to create a well balanced, mellow taste and refined smoothness.

A light coloured, soft whisky with elegant overtones of fruitiness and with pleasant hints of vanilla and pear drops. It has a deliciously complex taste and a long, smooth lingering finish.

Vodka distillers in Europe have been honing their art, and the essential filtration process for centuries. In Britain, ancient granite formations allow for some of the world's softest water to run through our valleys, and it is this essence of purity we add to every bottle.

 

The Speaker Premium Vodka is distilled from some of the finest locally sourced grains, that capper the optimal balance of this spirit. Very smooth, with a long lasting aromatic finish.
